Vickie has written and directed three award winning national and international short films, 20 commercials and PSAs and has been teaching filmmaking since 1992. She’s attached as the director of two upcoming feature films that will go into production next spring and summer. One is the American story of civil and women’s rights called REVOLUTIONIST and the other is a lesbian romantic comedy called SHELBY’S VACATION. She’s currently polishing a screenplay she wrote entitled WHO’S ON TOP?
Vickie serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance of Women Directors, the ONLY organization devoted to women directors. She’s worked close with editors, directors and actors on over 187 films for the past 40 years. Her specialty is directing actors on the ADR stage (ADR=Automated Dialogue Replacement), she has interfaced and worked with the top actors in our business including Robert DeNiro, Liza Minnelli, Sandra Bullock, Marlon Brando, James Caan, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Robert Redford, Sir Alec Guinness, Jane Fonda, Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Sigourney Weaver just to name a few! She’s also directed ADR Groups, (background voice actors).
In 1987, she was one of twelve women selected from a slate of 600 entrants for the prestigious Directing Workshop for Women from the American Film Institute where she made the award winning LAST CHANCE SALOON, a 30 minute film about a professional woman in an advertising firm whose ideas her male co-worker claims are his own! To end this theft and reclaim her own ideas, she fantasizes how she would handle the situation if she were a Deputy in the Old West.
Vickie has always been attracted to films and stories about people struggling against all odds to be themselves, to fight for justice and equality and to shine a light where a light is needed. “I like stories that promote goodness, happiness, and offer solutions to world problems. I believe that film can change people and change the world. I like to teach people the power of film – through story, through the lens, through the sound, and through acting. There is so much!”
